Is it for real or is it one of your brilliant VFX creations, Spockboy? On reflection, I probably wouldn't be a responsible owner of a real laser firing phaser.  |

Re: How to build your own Phaser Just the thing I have been wanting to do to one of my toys! I have a 50mW green laser set aside for this project but I am still waiting to muster up the nerve to start ripping one of my phasers apart!

It's not exactly faked but this gentleman did mention in the video's comments that he did use some smoke from burning paper to enhance the effect for the camera. I'm not sure of the power of laser that he used but the 50 mW laser that I have is extremely bright with a visible beam in low light conditions. Re: How to build your own Phaser Sorry about the thread resurrection, but I came across this article and thought it was worth posting. As CaptYoung mentioned the laser in these home-made phasers is quite powerful, capable of popping dark-coloured balloons.
